Press Release FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Marty Campbell named 2009 Official of the Year July 6, 2009- Marty Campbell was awarded the 2009 GBFFL "Official of the Year Award" on Sunday following the competitive finals. The GBFFL announced the implementation of the Official of the Year award on May 25, 2009 as a way to recognize those officials who perform at a high level. At the conclusion of each GBFFL game day each official took a written quiz on the rules, with those results counting for 50% of the "Official of the Year" standings. At the conclusion of the regular season each team captain voted for their choice for "Official of the Year", which comprised the other 50% of the standings. In order to be eligible for the "Official of the Year" award an official must have officiated at least six regular season games. Marty Campbell, Pete Farrell and Frank Gilliotte each qualified for the official of the year award by officiating six or more games. Marty Campbell won the award handily as he had the highest quiz average (91.5%) and also was ranked the highest by the captains. Campbell was awarded with the GBFFL Official of the Year trophy and a check for $125. Pete Farrell was the runner up for the Official of the Year Award as his 75% quiz score and 17 points in the captains rankings were both second best. Pete was awarded with a $50 check in acknowledgement of his efforts.
