Press Release

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Watch out for Zoombang

July 28, 2008 - Zoombang has been one of the most impressive and improved teams in the GBFFL over the past few weeks.  They won two games on Sunday and improved their record to 5-5.  In their first game they defeated The Dynasty by a score of 16-14.  This was the first “real” loss for the Dynasty, as their only other loss was the result of a forfeit.  Zoombang’s second win of the day was a 26-8 win over ACDC.  Their modest 5-5 record is quite misleading as they have improved drastically in recent weeks and have beaten 2nd place W.H. Greene and Associates, and as previously mentioned, 3rd place The Dynasty.  Zoombang's two wins move them from 9th place in the GBFFL standings to 8th (the top 8 teams qualify for the competitive playoffs).

W.H. Greene and Associates continued their march up the standings with two convincing wins last Sunday.  In their first game they defeated The Buffalo Braves, who are currently in 4th place, by a score of 34-6.  Their second win was a 14-0 defeat of the E.A. Heroes.  Both wins featured long passes from Quarterback Brandt Dubey to receiver Steve Patterson, who made several circus catches and racked up the yards after catch on nearly every play.  With their two wins, W.H. Greene and Associates improved their record to 8-2 and moved into 2nd place in the standings.

The Pussycats and American Glass Block also won two games on Sunday.  The Pussycats beat The Tigers and E.A. Heroes, by scores of 20-19, and 13-6, respectively.  The Pussycats improved to 7-3 and hold the 5th place spot in the standings.  American Glass Block received a forfeit win over the Alumni's and defeated The Buffalo Soldiers by a score of 27-0.  Nate Charvella led the way for American Glass Block.  Charvella took a short pass on the games first play and weaved his way to a 45 yard touchdown, and intercepted a pass for a touchdown.  American Glass Block improved to 7-3 and remains in 6th place in the standings.

The GBFFL regular season concludes this Sunday, August 3, 2008. Several games will have playoff implications as the final spots for the competitive playoffs are up in the air and playoff seeds may be shuffled as a result of this Sundays results. The GBFFL has a bye week Sunday August 10 and playoffs will be held on Sunday August 17, 2008.
